Two men and one woman were arrested by police officers from the General Affairs Department of the Sub-Directorate for Drug Prosecution of the Security Directorate of Thessaloniki, in cooperation with the Athens Service of the DEA and with the assistance of police officers from the Igoumenitsa Security Sub-Directorate.
After a methodical and diligent investigation, they managed to arrest members of an international criminal gang involved in the importation into our country from Turkey – Albania and the trafficking of large quantities of drugs within Greek territory.
They are a 46-year-old woman, a 58-year-old man and a 33-year-old foreigner from Bangladesh, against whom a criminal case has been brought for violating the Addiction Law.
According to the police investigation, the detainees were in charge of specific roles, while the detainee had an important role in the importation, possession, transportation, storage and trafficking of drugs in the urban complexes of Athens and Thessaloniki.
As part of an organized operation that was carried out this Friday, agents of the General Directorate of General Affairs of the Subdirectorate of Drug Control, located and detained the 46-year-old young man in a central area of the city, possessing more than two kilos of heroin.
During the searches carried out at the place of detention, in a hotel room in the center of Thessaloniki, but also in an apartment that they maintain in the Igoumenitsa area, with the assistance of police officers from the Igoumenitsa Security Subdirectorate, they were found and confiscated a total of:
• 38 kg and 149 grams of raw hemp,
• 2 kilos and 53 grams of heroin
• 1 electronic precision balance
• 2 mobile phones
The detainees will be brought before the competent Prosecutor’s Office.
