With another homerun, Pito Abreu tied a major league record

| 23/08/2020 – 5:45pm (GMT-4)

The pride of Bad Weather, José Dariel Abreu, equaled a major league record when he homered in his first at-bat on Sunday, which allowed him to hit four consecutive full-return hits.

Whistle set to fly 449 feet a cutter (87.4 mph) from Cubs starter Yu Darvish, extending the string of straight home runs that began yesterday when bounced balls in the sixth, eighth and ninth innings of the engagement against the Cubs.

Before today, this feat had occurred 42 times in MLB, without anyone ever being able to reach five successive homers.

Right now, Abreu – who led the AL Pushers last year – leads the circuit in homers (11) and RBIs (28).

Between 2014 and 2017, Pito became just the third player in history to hit 25 or more home runs and chart 100 or more runs in each of his first four seasons, behind the immortal Joe DiMaggio and Albert Pujols.

In addition, he has been Rookie of the Year, a three-time All-Star and has won a pair of Silver Bats.
