The Indian ambassador to Cuba, Madhu Sethi, commented with Prensa Latina that it is a contribution that is being made by the natural medicine of her country and by Ayurvedic (traditional) doctors, when looking for formulas to help counteract the effects of the deadly virosis or prevent it. .

Sethi reported that the Ministry of Traditional Medicine (Ayush) of his country promotes a series of measures and suggestions to enhance the immune system of the human body, prevention and self-care in the face of the Covid-19 crisis.

Among the general advice indicates drinking warm water throughout the day and practicing Yogosana, Pranayama and meditation for at least 30 minutes.

Likewise, it suggests using seasonings such as turmeric, cumin, garlic and coriander in food preparation.

To strengthen the immune system, he recommends ingesting ‘Chyavanprash’ in the morning, cooked potion of sugar, honey, butter, Indian gooseberry jam, sesame oil, berries and various herbs and spices, which is prepared according to instructions suggested in the Ayurvedic texts.

With the same objective, he advises drinking ‘Kadha’, a tea with various herbs (basil, cinnamon, black pepper, dried ginger and raisins) once or twice a day, as well as three small tablespoons (150 ml) of boiled milk with turmeric.

As typical Ayurvedic procedures, by way of prevention, the Ministry of Traditional Medicine suggests applying sesame, coconut or pure butter oil to the nostrils in the morning and night, and mouthwash for two or three minutes with a tablespoon of sesame oil or coconut.

In case of cough or burning in the throat, it is advisable to make inhalations with fresh mint leaves or caraway seeds, and also ingest two or three times a day a tablespoon of clove powder with raw sugar. However, it specifies that if symptoms persist, a doctor should be consulted.
