Windows 10 Patch Tuesday causes bugs again

This is the temporary solution to tackle the latest Windows 10 bug.

Microsoft released another update during Patch Tuesday. As we are unfortunately used to, the first bugs are already being reported. This time it is the turn of sleep mode and the low energy warning. We put things in a row and share a (temporary) fix.

Windows 10 Patch Tuesday: the good news

The update that has been rolled out since Tuesday has fixed 129 weaknesses. 23 items were critical, 105 important and one ‘moderate’. Although Microsoft claims that the weaknesses were unknown, security experts see that they have mainly picked up problems in the ‘memory corruption flaw’ of Microsoft Exchange Server. Various problems with Sharepoint have also been solved. This seems like good news, but it is surprising that, in addition to all the known bugs, there appear to be so many weaknesses in the public version of Windows 10.

Windows 10 Patch Tuesday brings new bugs

Unfortunately we are there now used to it that a patch that has to fix bugs will also create new bugs. This time is no different. Users report problems with sleep mode. The computer would wake up spontaneously. The reports about a low battery capacity (on laptops of course) are also not properly received, according to complaints. In other cases, the computer no longer goes into sleep mode, but switches off immediately. This problem has happened before, but has apparently returned. Microsoft has not yet responded, but a solution has now been found.

This is how you solve the problems with sleep mode

If you are suffering from Windows 10 with insomnia yourself, you can do the following:

Open Windows Search and search for ‘services.msc’. Then see a service screen. There you search for ‘Windows Update’. You select this and press stop. When the process has stopped, select ‘Windows Update’ again and press ‘start’ and then ‘restart’. Then go back to ‘Windows Update’ and choose ‘check for updates’. There should be pending updates. Install it and then restart your computer while it works with the ‘white button’ (reboot).

This maneuver causes the MoUsoCoreWorker.exe file to stop blocking the sleep function. Hopefully they will join de update of the Windows 10 keyboard to work so accurately that we can look forward to another bug-free update (in 2021).
