Will Turkish or vegetarian cuisine win? We deliberate and weigh the finalists of ‘My Kitchen My Restaurant’ | TV

TV50,000 euros. That amount is at stake tonight in ‘My kitchen my restaurant’. After several months of exhaustion, two duos cross the chef’s knives in the final: lovers of the refined Turkish cuisine Lorenzo and Ayse, and the vegetarian twin sisters Jasmina and Deborah. We are already taking our kitchen scales to weigh their chances against each other.

Lorenzo (30) in Ayse (30)

Odds of winning: 60%

At the start of the match, Lorenzo and Ayse were not above it, but the two underwent the greatest evolution with their Turkish dishes. They listened best to the tips of the jury and performed very consistently. The communication problems are a stumbling block. When the stress increases, Chef Lorenzo closes completely.

Lorenzo and Ayse certainly did not make a crushing impression when they presented their first menu to Sergio Herman and Marcelo Ballardin this spring. Their new approach to traditional Turkish cuisine earned them 6s and 7s from the two top chefs. “Too much in a plate, too little seasoning and a poor presentation,” they concluded.

The fact that the two are now competing for the 50,000 euros has to do with their competitive spirit. “Neither of us can stand our loss,” it has been saying to the couple since episode one. Each time, they took the jury members’ tips to heart and refined their menu a little more every week. They particularly impressed with their lamb. “Wonderful. Top, top, top ”, lick-bearded Piet Huysentruyt about it.

The division of tasks is also clear. “Lorenzo is the boss in the kitchen, I am everywhere out there”, Ayse laughs. But despite these clear agreements, there is often also a problem there. At busy times, Lorenzo leaves his girlfriend and the room staff to their own devices. Still, we assume that their menu is up to scratch tonight.

What are you going to do when you win?

“Then we certainly plan to open Bar Nazar to the general public as well.”

Jasmina (30) in Deborah (30)

Odds of winning: 40%

Vegetables and nothing but vegetables. The concept of the Ghent twin sisters was clear throughout the match. With their original creations, they took vegetarian cuisine to a sky-high level and more than once left the judges dazed. Possible obstacle? A lack of dynamism and cooking feeling.

The sisters maneuvered their way through the competition fairly anonymously for a long time, but that changed when they invited the jury members and guest jury members to their home in Wondelgem in Ghent. Their beetroot trio was arguably the best dish they got in the entire game. “Really super, super nice”, a speechless Sergio Herman stammered. And that while as a child he “had to vomit” from the red vegetable. During the rest of the route, the ladies stood out mainly for their original approach to vegetable dishes (including desserts) and their stable steadfastness as a cooking team.

The latter is also the comment that you can place with the ladies. When they received comments from the jury, it always sounded the same: too little spice and seasoning. And that is reflected in their dynamics. When the sisters are busy, it doesn’t seem like they are cooking in a restaurant. Because they have prepared so much in advance, they often only have to prepare the plates for their guests. The restaurant feeling and the stress that comes with it is completely absent. It remains to be seen whether they can convince the jury with their often cold dishes.

What are you going to do when you win?

“It would be great to realize our dream: start your own business.”

This is how the finale unfolds

The duos have already cooked for food bloggers, influencers and people with a hospitality background in recent weeks, but in the final the entire jury team will be called up again. This means guest jury members Anne-Sophie Breysem, Piet Huysentruyt, Sofie Dumont and Loïc Van Impe, but first and foremost star chefs Sergio Herman and Marcelo Ballardin. The two duos will cook à la carte in the final, in their case that is a menu with two starters, two main courses and two desserts. The winner will be chosen after deliberation by the full jury.
