In order to develop Rest and Service Areas (TIP) or rest areas on toll roads, PT Jasa Marga Tbk through its subsidiary, PT Jasamarga Related Business (JMRB) will build lodging facilities in rest areas. Then, which toll roads will come with these facilities?
Previously it was reported that the construction of the inn was the result of a collaboration between PT Jasamarga Related Business (JMRB) and Omega Hotel Management (OHM). Both have signed a memorandum of understanding in the development of lodging in the rest area.
The plan to build lodging facilities in the rest area follows the issuance of Regulation of the Minister of Public Works and Public Housing (Permen PUPR) No. 28 of 2021 concerning Rest and Service Areas (TIP) on Toll Roads.
Then, which toll roads are planned to build lodging facilities in the rest area?
President Director of PT JMRB Cahyo Satrio Prakoso said the potential for developing lodging facilities in the rest area is still in the process of being studied by JMRB and OHM. Then in the initial identification, the toll road segment that is suitable for this overnight facility is the Trans Java toll road network.
“Our main target is, of course, road users who travel continuously or long distances, for the safety and security of their travels. Those who so far require overnight facilities for traveling from Jakarta or even Merak to Semarang or from Surabaya and vice versa, must first exit the toll road and then leave the toll road. find the nearest hotel,” said Cahyo in his official statement.
Another factor is the condition of the Trans Java toll road which is also quite crowded by vehicles, so that lodging facilities are considered suitable for motorists who want to unwind. In addition, JMRB also manages a number of rest areas located along the Trans Java toll road which stretches from Merak to Banyuwangi.
“In addition to the long and crowded condition of the Trans Java Toll Road, 85 percent of the toll road rest areas managed by PT JMRB are also located on the Trans Java Toll Road network, so the potential for developing this lodging facility is also increasingly open. Our rest area is on the Outer Java Toll Road,” he explained.
In line with Cahyo, Director of Operations at PT Omega Hotel Management Aswin Drajat Sukrisna said that the construction of lodging facilities in toll road rest areas does not only focus on the Trans Java toll road, but in the future it can also be built on a number of toll roads outside Java.
“We agree with PT JMRB, currently the rest area that has the potential to present a hotel is a rest area on the Trans Java Toll Road, but it is possible if later it is needed on the Outer Java Toll Road,” said Aswin.
