Will Musinsa be involved in another counterfeit product dispute?

Products sold through the out of stock resell platform, deemed fake by Naver Cream
Musinsa “It is not confirmed whether it is authentic or fake… Strengthen the real evaluation system”

[아시아경제 문화영 인턴기자] Musinsa should again be involved in the “false laboratory”. Nike products sold through Musinsa’s resale platform that were out of stock (reselling limited edition products at higher prices) were deemed counterfeit products in the process of being resold on Naver’s resale platform, Cream. This is the third time this year that Musinsa has been involved in a counterfeit product dispute.

According to related industry on the 25th, the product “Nike Jordan 1 Retro High OG Jim Red” that consumer A bought from Musinsa Soldout was found to be fake by Naver Cream. In response, Mr. A was informed that the transaction was not possible and said, “I bought it for about 350,000 won when it sold out, and as soon as I bought it, I sold it without touching the package.”

Currently, Mr. A said, “We have requested the cream side to ensure closed circuit TV (CC) for the inspection center table.” He also added: “From the process of the cream staff taking out the package I sent and removing the elaborate wrapped packaging to the full house, to the plastic rings for inspection of the full house, every pair of shoes will appear on the screen. “

In this regard, Musinsa is in the position that it has been published on the community and it has not been confirmed whether it is genuine or fake. A Musinsa official said, “After the fake product decision, I still haven’t heard the reason, process or result of the cream’s fake product decision.”

Furthermore, he added, “If a product initially sold-out has a counterfeiting issue on another platform, it will be reviewed and if the result is found to be counterfeit, compensation will be made.”

It is not the first time that sold-outs and counterfeits of creams have occurred. Last August, the sold-out “Air Jordan 1 Retro High OG Pravis Scott” was found to be a fake during the cream inspection process. Earlier in April, controversy arose that the “Pear of God Essential” T-shirts sold by Musinsa’s subsidiary boutique were counterfeit. At the time, Peer of God, the manufacturer of the product, concluded, “All six Essential T-Shirts (sold by Musinsa) cannot be judged authentic.”

On the other hand, Musinsa announced that it will further strengthen the real valuation system in cooperation with the Trade-related Intellectual Property Protection Association (TIPA) under the Korean Customs Service as the counterfeit product dispute continued. In addition, the product inspection standards of parallel importers entering the store have been significantly strengthened, and a procedure for verifying genuineness has been added.

Parallel importers carry out labeling inspections on all products they intend to sell through the Musinsa service and check whether the information consumers need to check, such as labels and care labels attached to the products, is damaged. In addition, the sold-out must re-verify the product in question as counterfeit and compensate the buyer for 300% of the purchase price if it is found to be counterfeit.
