After years of anticipation, Percy Jackson’s world returns to live-action. This time with a television series that is being made for streaming service Disney +.
The series follows after two attempts to adapt the books of writer Rick Riordan a bit appropriately, with Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief in 2010 and Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters in 2013. But the films were received mixed, although fans thought the casting was top notch. In particular Alexandra Daddario who played the role of Annabeth Chase in the two films, received much praise.
The question that many fans have right now is whether the original cast members could return to the Disney+ series. Daddario has a clear answer to that.
“New!” she started. “No, I loved Percy Jackson. I loved it. When I got to make Percy Jackson I had no idea what it was. I was just an actor in New York City, a kid working in a bar and had no idea about Hollywood or anything related to that. And so when I got that job, I really didn’t know what I was getting into. I knew it was a big movie. And it was the best experience for a 22/23 year old to watch. to have.”
“Chris Columbus, who directed it, and his production partners supported us so well. I am eternally grateful to them and have learned so much from them. I now have the career in the industry I wanted. And that is extraordinary.”
