Wilders and the circle around Erdogan call each other fascists on Twitter

The reactions of the Turkish Foreign Minister Çavusoglu and the spokesman for Erdogan’s AK party were not long in coming. Çavusoglu said it is time to end fascist politicians in Europe. And AK spokesman Çelik called it a duty to fight “these immoral fascists.”

In a speech to a party congress, Erdogan pretended to address Wilders: “Know your limits. Fascism is not in our book, fascism is in your book.”

Wilders responded on his turn again to the words of Erdogan. “Erdogan calls me a fascist. But that is his own philosophy. I stand up for our freedom and oppose the lack of freedom of the totalitarian Islamic ideology.”

Growing annoyance with France

The altercation comes at a time of grave annoyance among Erdogan and part of the Islamic world over the European response to a terror attack in France. There, a history teacher was beheaded by a radicalized Muslim a week and a half ago, after that teacher had used Mohammed cartoons as teaching material.
