Wild Wings beat the Ice Tigers! – Hockey-News.info

The eleventh game day is complete: The Schwenninger Wild Wings beat the Nürnberg Ice Tigers 4-2 and thus won again after two defeats. Nürnberg, on the other hand, lost the third game in a row and is in last place in the southern group with a point average of 0.78. Despite the victory, the Wild Wings remained in fourth place, but increased their lead over the fifth-placed Augsburg Panthers.

The home side came out of the dressing room motivated and aggressive. Nürnberg’s goalie Treutle was challenged several times in the first few minutes. In the 17th minute he was powerless against Travis Turnbull (17th). In the second period the Ice Tigers got better into the game and tried to make up for the deficit. At four against four, Eric Cornel (35th) managed to equalize.

The Wild Wings responded with a double strike by Alexander Weiß (37th), who played in his 800th PENNY DEL game, and Johannes Huss (40th). In the final section, the Wild Wings tried to defend their lead. That went well until Oliver Mebus (56th) scored the next goal for Nuremberg. In the final minutes Joacim Eriksson saved Schwenningen with good saves and Daniel Pfaffengut (60th) scored with an emptynetter to make it 4-2.

The games on Sunday (24.01.2021)

Grizzlys Wolfsburg – Fischtown Pinguins (2:30 p.m.)
Due to the defeat in Berlin (2-0) after six victories, the Fischtown Pinguins lost the championship lead to the polar bears and Düsseldorf has also caught up with the second-placed Northern Lights on points. With a win against Wolfsburg they could keep DEG at a distance for the time being. For the fifth-placed grizzlies, it’s about not losing touch with the top four. Bremerhaven won the first meeting 5-2.

Adler Mannheim – ERC Ingolstadt (5:00 p.m.)
The Eagles won the first duel between Mannheim and Ingolstadt only in the shootout (3: 2). Since then, the Schanzer have won twice against Munich (6: 4, 3: 1) and also conquered third place, while the league leaders have played six games against Schwenningen (1: 3) and in Straubing (1: 2) suffered the first two defeats. ERC Ingolstadt can move up to second place with a win and also end the series of seven away defeats in Mannheim.

Krefeld Penguins – Cologne Sharks (7.30 p.m.)
With the 6: 3 in Iserlohn the Krefeld Pinguine finally got the longed-for victory and the first points. The first game against the Kölner Haie was clearly lost with 2: 7. However, after a good start to the season, the Domstadt team are in a crisis of earnings with six defeats in a row. Krefeld has won three of the last five away games in Cologne.
