“Recently, the events within the national CDA have been a huge struggle for me, partly due to the great personal impact on myself and my family. That means that I can no longer deploy myself full of enthusiasm, passion and conviction as a CDA representative,” Koç said in the statement.
In a response to the statement, department chair of the CDA-Enschede Laura Pierik says that she understands Koç’s decision. “Everyone has enormous respect for the way she has continued as a councilor for the CDA in recent months. -Enschede, despite the complex national situation”, according to Pierik.
Omtzigt announced in June that he was canceling his membership for the CDA after a conflict with the party. Nevertheless, Koç announced at the time that he would stay on as a councilor in Enschede.
Earlier this week, Omtzigt announced that he will definitely not return to the CDA. He will, however, return to the House of Representatives as an independent Member of Parliament.
