Wi-Fi for schoolchildren and work from home

The first step in building your own home network is choosing a suitable, ideally wireless router. It handles all network traffic. The cheapest models can be purchased for a few hundred, but they usually can do nothing but internet distribution.

More expensive versions, whose price tags are in the order of several thousand crowns, on the other hand, offer more advanced setting options and usually also have a better range of the wireless signal. They also excel in the number of premium features offered.

The best wireless routers currently attract to Wi-Fi 6, the latest speed standard technically known as Wi-Fi 802.11ax. This will bring users a faster connection thanks to higher data throughput and minimal delay, ie the lowest possible latency. This will also save you from wrinkles in situations where you definitely do not want the image or sound to fall out and you lose contact, even if only for a while. And it doesn’t matter if we are talking about a video conference with a boss or a teacher from school.

Easy operation

Most routers today have graphical wizards that allow even a less experienced user to handle the configuration. Nevertheless, if you are not sure about the specific settings of the network element, it is advisable to entrust the installation to a specialist. Poor configuration can allow uninvited visitors to our computers and data.

This is also the case with the Archer AX50 model from TP-Link, which offers transfer speeds of up to 3000 Mb / s thanks to Wi-Fi 6 support. These are higher values than can be achieved with the fastest Internet connections. However, higher transmission speeds can be used in practice when two connected devices communicate with each other, for example when sending data from a computer to a mobile phone or television.

“Thanks to OFDMA technology, the connection capacity of the Archer AX50 is fourfold, allowing simultaneous seamless transmission to even more end devices. It is video chats and conferences that will also be facilitated by the extremely low response and Beamforming technology, “said Aleš Šafář, product manager of TP-Link. The mentioned Beamforming technology allows to achieve better wireless coverage thanks to signal routing.

When the router is not enough

In large apartments, however, even the best routers may not be enough for sufficient coverage. The same applies to classic prefabricated flats, in which the signal from other units is disturbed. In this case, it pays to invest in a mesh system. It is actually a system of wireless boxes that are distributed in individual rooms to spread the wireless signal evenly wherever it is needed.

All units communicate with each other and pass on connected clients as needed. So if you’re moving from one room to another, you don’t have to set up or connect to another network. “With mesh systems, you will have your entire household covered by one Wi-Fi network with one network name, so you can switch between rooms with a smartphone in hand, for example, to make calls over the Internet or download data. All Deco models can be easily set up and controlled by the mobile application, which is available in Czech and Slovak, “stated Šafář.

Of course, mesh systems also support the latest WiFi 6. “Standing among these mesh systems is the Deco M5 with three units, which covers an area of up to 510 m2 with a Wi-Fi signal, and with two units it can cover 350 m2. The Deco M5 model provides a fast and stable connection with a speed of up to 1267 Mb / s and works with any internet connection provider, ”concluded Šafář.
