The mycologist emphasized that what is commonly called a mushroom is in fact only a temporary part of it, or the fruit body. “The fungus itself is in the soil, in wood, in a layer of fallen leaves, needles or even in a separate leaf or conifer,” Daniel said. The underground mushroom is like a large, kilometer-long spider web that feeds.

When the fungus needs to regenerate, it expels a fruit body with spores above the ground, which will form a new fungal network when sown.

“If we affect the fungus in some way, we injure it, if we harvest the fruit, a signal is given – we failed to multiply this time, we need to spread the spores over and over again,” said the mycologist.

Daniel also pointed out that the mushrooms can not only be cut with a knife, but also carefully picked out, but the mushroom must be careful not to damage the forest ground too much.
