North Korea there was an uproar when the government forced residents to watch the execution process of two 16-17 year old teenagers after they were caught distributing film content South Korea.
One of the sources said the execution took place on an airstrip in the city of Hyesen.
The source said that North Korean authorities considered the teenager’s actions harmful.
“They said, ‘Those who watch or distribute South Korean movies and dramas, will not be pardoned and will be punished with the maximum death penalty,'” he said Radio Asia free.
So far, North Korea has often taken strong action against citizens caught watching or distributing South Korean-related content.
So why did Kim Jong Un strictly ban South Korean pop culture in North Korea?
According to a former diplomat at the North Korean embassy in London, Kim is more afraid of South Korean films or dramas circulating on the black market.
One of them is the Descendant of the Sun series which exposes secrets, myths and triggers rebellion, according to reports ABC News.

Former North Korean Deputy Ambassador to Britain Thae Yong-ho has revealed Kim’s mindset and perspective.
According to Thae, Kim is concerned that North Koreans know the realities of life in their country if they know conditions abroad.
Thae said Kim feared it would be difficult for the government to change or deal with the consequences of citizens’ discontent.
Thae’s opinion suggests that Kim is aware that he cannot do much against South Korea, which is protected by the United States. Kim also needs a nuclear threat to terrorize Washington.
Kim is said to have always been concerned about any possible threat to the North Korean regime.
He even banned foreign songs and unwanted local songs. The ban allegedly appeared because some lyrics could arouse popular dissent in North Korea.
The Propaganda and Agitation Department of the Workers’ Party of Korea even circulated a list of banned songs in 2015.
The agency also ransacked homes, destroying CDs or tapes containing prohibited content, it was reported The Guardian. However, South Korean content continues to spread.
