In this respect, new records of deaths in one day will be achieved, although the number of deaths is still relatively low. The announcement comes at a time when the number of Covid-19 infections per day has reached a record high worldwide.

  • There were 307,000 new infections on Sunday, the most since the start of the pandemic.

According to Hans Kluge, the director of the World Health Organization in Europe, in an interview with the AFP news agency, it will become more difficult, and higher mortality will be observed in October and November. He explained that many countries are now reluctant to hear such news, and that is understandable.

Klūge noted that the pandemic would end at some point, but stressed that the vaccine may not be like the silver bullet expected by many.

The number of new infections has once again raised serious concerns across Europe, and the debate and the search for new ideas on how best to deal with the pandemic and protect the public are still ongoing.

At the weekend, France experienced the highest number of infections per day, more than 10,000. In many places, restrictions have been tightened again.

In England and Scotland, assembly restrictions have been in place since Monday, preventing more than six people from gathering in one place. People have expressed outrage, but medical professor Peter Openshov explained that they are necessary if the public wants to avoid what was experienced in the spring.

“Setting a certain level of restrictions, I fear, will cause pain and suffering for all of us. However, if we do not do this now, we will soon return to strict restrictions. At the moment, this is how we can control the virus, “the professor emphasized.

Austrian Chancellor Sebastian Kurz, meanwhile, warned that the country was ahead of the second wave and that stricter requirements for wearing face masks would be set.

The outbreak has also hit the Czech Republic hard. The Czech Post announced on Monday that about three million elderly people will be supplying face masks and respirators this week in an attempt to stem the rapid outbreak.

Meanwhile, millions of children have returned to school benches in several European countries this month. Italy was one of the first countries in Europe to close schools, and a large number of schools in that country returned children on Monday. Teachers and around 5.5 million children have returned to school after a break of several months, following various safety measures – wearing masks, measuring temperature and social distancing.

However, some regions in southern Italy have postponed the opening of schools, worrying that they are not properly prepared. Italian officials have stressed that thousands of additional classes have been set up, but is concerned about the lack of surgical masks for teachers, the lack of teachers themselves and the lack of a single bench for school students.
