WHO to intervene, what’s wrong with Covid in Jakarta?

Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia Seeing the development of the Covid-19 pandemic, the World Health Organization (WHO) is increasingly warning many countries. In the latest Situation Report edition January 19, 2022, WHO also updated the guidelines for anticipating the spread of the omicron variant of the corona virus.

It is known that this variant is the main suspect that has made positive cases soar in Indonesia and more than 100 other countries.

WHO advises many countries to start increasing surveillance and testing, accelerate and expand vaccination coverage, implement measurable social distancing policies, and implement travel adjustment policies.

WHO assesses that so far the corona virus pandemic in Indonesia is still under control. This can be seen from the low transmission rate in the community (CT1) in the last 14 days.

Then, the death rate is also maintained low despite the increase in positive cases. On January 10-16, 2022, the death rate in Indonesia remained at 0.01 cases per 100,000 population.

Meanwhile in the Java-Bali region, the mortality rate in the same period was 0.01 cases per 100,000 population. Less than the previous week, namely 0.02 cases per 100,000 population.

Even so, the WHO also gave a warning after the increase in daily cases in the Java-Bali region in the last two weeks.

“It is very important for local governments to closely monitor the risk of cluster transmission and prevent it from becoming a mass transmission (outbreak). Contact tracing for each case is important to prevent the spread of the omicron variant,” the WHO report said.

The WHO report also provides a special segment for Jakarta. On January 16, 2022, the number of patients hospitalized was 771 people. An increase compared to the previous week which was 758 people. Meanwhile, the number of people who are self-isolating in Jakarta is 3,045. Up from the previous week which was 3,011 people.

Meanwhile, the Covid-19 Task Force as of Friday (21/1/2022) announced that there were an additional 2,604 infection cases. With this, the total confirmed cases reached 4,280,248. The additional 2,604 cases today were higher than yesterday’s 2,116.

DKI Jakarta still contributes the most new cases today, namely 1,484. This is higher than yesterday which was recorded at 1,155. Followed by West Java (505), Banten (340), East Java (92), and Bali (38).

Meanwhile, recovered cases increased by 811 bringing the total to 4,121,928. Meanwhile, the number of deaths has increased by 2. With this, 144,201 people have died due to Covid-19. Cumulatively, active cases increased by 1,791 to 14,119.
