WHO Records the Highest Weekly Covid-19 Case Record

KOMPAS.com – Acceleration corona virus accelerating around the world, with a spike in new cases over the past week.

World Health Organization (WHO) recorded nearly 2 million new cases Covid-19 for a week in the period 14-20 September 2020.

It was a weekly record high, and increased 6 percent from the previous week.

“The highest number of cases reported in one week since the start of the pandemic,” said WHO quoted from Barron’s, Tuesday (22/9/2020).

Since first appearing in China late last year, corona virus has infected more than 31 million people worldwide and killed more than 970,000, according to records Worldometer.

According to the WHO, nearly all regions of the world saw an increase in cases last week, with Europe and America accounting for 11 and 10 percent of cases, respectively.

Reportedly, only Africa experienced a decrease in cases of up to 12 percent from the previous week.

Death comes down

Although infection cases in the world are increasing, WHO noted that the number of new deaths from the corona virus decreased last week.

About 37,700 new deaths as a result corona virus recorded worldwide, down 10 percent from the previous week.

This condition was driven by a decrease in the death rate in America, the worst-affected region, by 22 percent.
