A World Health Organization (WHO) investigation team to clarify the origin of the novel coronavirus infection (Corona 19) arrived in Wuhan, China. It has been more than a year since the first outbreak of Corona 19 in China in December 2019.
The WHO investigation team will not go directly to the Huanan Fish Market, the location of the corona 19 outbreak, but will be quarantined for a certain period of time and discuss it through videoconferencing with Chinese experts.
Initially, the WHO investigation team was scheduled to trace the origin of Corona 19 based on virus samples collected locally and interviews with infected people after arriving in China on the 5th. However, their entry into China was delayed as the Chinese government took over visa issues. In response, the Chinese side explained that there was a misunderstanding on the date of the visit. Zeng Yi-shin, deputy director of the China National Health Commission, said at a press conference on the 9th, “China and WHO gathered opinions on specific investigation methods through videoconferences four times. Chinese experts are waiting for WHO officials.” He said, “When WHO experts complete the procedure and confirm the schedule, Chinese experts will go to Wuhan to investigate.” “China’s position on the WHO investigation is positive, open and supportive It is a position to do. We hope this joint effort will deepen our understanding of the virus and help us better prevent future infectious diseases.”
Currently, Western countries such as the United States are insisting that Wuhan, China, is the source of the Corona 19 virus and should take responsibility. On the other hand, China said that the virus was introduced from Europe through imported frozen foods, and Wuhan said that it was the first place where Corona 19 was discovered, not the place where it originated.
WHO spokesman Margaret Harris said, “This investigation team will investigate the infection route of the first corona 19 case announced by Wuhan, and will also investigate various animals associated with the corona 19 virus.”
However, Harris said, “We should not expect that this investigation team will find a definite answer to the issue of the origin of Corona 19. “It takes enough time to study serious infectious diseases.”
“This research team is to present joint research hypotheses and directions through brainstorming. This visit is a work in the field of science, and should not be related to politics.”
Meanwhile, WHO conducted field investigations in China twice in February and July, but could not come up with a clear answer.
