Where to watch the 2022-2023 season on TV

This Friday, August 12, La Liga Santander and La Liga Smartbank begin and you have to be aware of where the matches are broadcast, since Dazn has also bid for the television rights of La Liga. For this 2022-2023 season, Dazn has been incorporated as a teleoperator together with Movistar + and Orange and it will be the three companies that offer the matches of the domestic competition.

With the incorporation of Dazn, the intention is that Spanish football reaches the maximum number of homes in Spain as a payment.

5 games for Movistar and 5 for Dazn

Of the 10 games per day, La Liga has divided the batch into two blocks of five games for each, leaving 5 games to Movistar + and the other five to Dazn. On the other hand, since last year, Dazn and the Movistar operator reached an agreement to merge and be able to share their own rights that the companies had separately, such as the motor world in the case of Dazn. For this reason, Movistar+ will also be able to watch Dazn’s exclusive matches from its own channel within Movistar (with the operator’s complete ‘pack’).

On the other hand, there is Orange, which has sub-licensed the Movistar + and Dazn channels to offer the 10 matches of each day in a package. In short, from Movistar you can see the 10 games of the day (depending on the rate, but only 5 games), without forgetting the open game on GOL TV, which broadcasts one per day.

How is the distribution of matches done?

Each day Dazn and Movistar + will choose their five matches that correspond to them, and to do it in a simple and fair way, the pattern that will be followed to see who chooses first is the following. The first day Movistar has preference and they choose one of the 10 meetings available, then Dazn chooses another, Movistar the next and so on. On the second day the opposite happens, Dazn has priority to choose the first game while Movistar will choose the second until reaching the last.

This will be the pattern for 35 of the 38 league days, since Movistar exclusively reserves 3 full days, where they cannot be seen on Dazn. The theme of the classics, the most important game in La Liga, both operators have reached an agreement and have decided that each one will keep one of the two games of the year. Dazn will broadcast the first classic of the year in October, while Movistar will broadcast the second in March.

The silver division of Spanish football will have the largest offer in history in operators, reaching 10 different platforms to be able to follow the second division. Movistar+, Vodafone, Orange and Telecable start from the first day broadcasting the matches, while in September Amazon Prime Video, R, Virgin Telco, Euskaltel, Másmóvil, Yoigo and Guuk are incorporated. In this category there is no exclusivity in rights and all companies will be able to enjoy all the matches of the day, with the exception of two that will be broadcast exclusively by the ‘Vamos’ channel, on Movistar.

On the other hand, the La Liga Smartbank TV channel will also be available online, where the 11 games of the day can be seen with narrators and commentators.
