Edouard Philippe announced it last Friday that the second round of municipal elections will finally take place on June 28, if health conditions allow it of course. Due to the coronavirus epidemic, the ballot was interrupted in March. In Vienne and Deux-Sèvres, voters from 53 municipalities are called to the polls to elect their mayor.

25 municipalities in Vienne

In Vienne, 25 municipalities will organize a second round on June 28, in particular Poitiers, Buxerolles or even Migné-Auxances. Also included in this list are two municipalities which had not presented any candidate in the first round of municipal elections.

28 towns of Deux-Sèvres

On June 28, voters in 28 communes of Deux-Sèvres will have to vote for the second round of municipal elections, in particular those of Thouars, Xaintray and Glénay. In Niort, the outgoing mayor Jérôme Baloge was reelected in the first round.

In Deux-Sèvres, a town did not have a first round March 15. This is Pierrefitte, 340 inhabitants, there was indeed no candidate for succession to the outgoing mayor. Finally, a list came up with residents who did not want the town to be absorbed by another. List which will therefore appear before voters on June 28.
