In 1989 and the early 1990s, the hypnotist captivated millions of viewers in front of television screens from the then Soviet Union and the former socialist countries, including ours, writes “Labor.”
His midnight sessions were declared healing, as was the water placed in front of the screen to recharge with the psychotherapist’s energy. Kashpirovsky claimed that he healed almost everything, and you didn’t have to look at him, just listened to his voice.
For a long time we had not heard of the hypnotist, who is almost 82 years old, but now the coronavirus has brought him back to light. Kashpirovski returned and did sessions again, but not on TV, but on his YouTube channel and Instagram account.
Now he does not promise a cure from Kovid-19, but has limited himself to strengthening the immune system, regulating blood pressure and improving vision.
From local psychiatry to world fame
Kashpirovsky was born on August 11, 1939, in what is now the Khmelnytsky region of Ukraine, then part of the USSR. His father was a soldier, a participant in World War II.
While he was at the front, the family was evacuated to the Kazakh SSR. Classmates of the future psychotherapist remember that he put a lot of emphasis on sports – weightlifting.
He also became a master of sports of the USSR. He reads a lot of literature, especially psychology. His favorite author is Stefan Zweig.
In 1962, Kashpirovski graduated from the Vinnytsia Medical Institute, and then worked for 25 years as a psychotherapist at the Vinnytsia Psychiatric Hospital.
In 1987 he was a psychotherapist for the Russian national weightlifting team. His healing abilities were first mentioned in 1988, when he built two Kiev-Moscow and Moscow-Kiev telebridges.
Those present are then convinced that surgery can be performed under remote hypnosis. On March 2, 1989, Kashpirovsky conducted a Kiev-Tbilisi teleconference and anesthetized two patients undergoing surgery at the same time.
After these hypnoses, the psychotherapist’s television sessions begin. The first was broadcast on October 8, 1989 on the First Program of Russian Central Television. The sessions are a total of 6 with over 300 million viewers.
They are broadcast on Sunday, once every two weeks. Kashpirovski claims to have cured more than 10 million people through them.
He doesn’t like to be called a magician and psychic, insists on being a psychotherapist, and has no explanation for why people fall asleep or fall to the ground when he tells them. The method is called programming the internal reserves of the human body for self-healing.
In 1993, Kashpirovsky was elected a member of the Russian State Duma from the Liberal Democratic Party of Russia (Zhirinovsky’s party). After the end of his parliamentary term in 1995, he moved to the United States.
In an interview, the hypnotist said that this was necessary to save his son Sergei. At that time, the popular speaker earned hundreds of thousands of rubles from each of his sessions at the stadium. For comparison – the average salary in the country is 150 rubles. The father receives a signal that they are preparing to kidnap his son for ransom.
After a few years abroad, Kashpirovsky returned to Russia and continued with the sessions. He has also toured in the United States, Israel, Bulgaria, Germany, Canada, Poland, the Czech Republic and Slovakia.
Judicial troubles
The psychotherapist’s problems with justice are not long in coming. In December 2006, while in Chelyabinsk, police confiscated 160 packages of “loaded” salt with no markings on it. The prosecution brought him to administrative responsibility for illegal activity and fraud.
Experts from the Chelyabinsk State Medical Academy claim that the methods of hypnosis used by Kashpirovski can be harmful to health, as they do not take into account the individual characteristics of the patient.
His answer is that it can remotely cause various changes in the body of police and prosecutors. There is no confirmation that he carried out this threat, but in the end the charges were dropped.
It is interesting that the hypnotist took part in the negotiations between the federal authorities and the terrorists led by Shamil Basayev during a terrorist act at the hospital in Budyonnovsk in 1995.
Kashpirovski promises to hypnotize the terrorists and take the hostages out. However, when he saw that everything in the hospital was covered in blood, he fainted and was taken away by the special forces. He still managed to save some of the captives after talking to Shamil Basayev in private for many hours.
In more recent times, Kashpirovski continues to have trouble in court. He filed a lawsuit against the organizers of his group session in 2017, who did not pay his fee.
It turns out that the woman in charge of financial matters declared bankruptcy in 2019, so the court does not consider the claim at all. In 2018, his claim against Channel One of the central television was rejected due to a hoax with his personality. In the evening show of Ivan Urgant, a psychic cat is shown, on which Kashpirovski’s face is mounted through Photoshop.
His children emigrated across the ocean
Anatoly Mikhailovich was officially married twice. He married Valentina for the first time in his hometown of Vinitsa long before he became world famous. In 1968 his daughter Elena was born, in 1974 – his son Sergei.
In the early 90’s, unable to come to terms with the presence in her husband’s life of numerous devotees, Valentina wants a divorce. She left the country and settled in Canada. After her, Kashpirovski sent his son and daughter, who was already married at the time, across the ocean.
The hypnotist’s second marriage was to Prague resident Irzina in 1992. Their relationship developed rapidly – on the third day of their acquaintance, he made her an offer and she immediately accepted it, abandoning her two minor daughters.
Irzhina becomes not only a companion in life, but also an assistant to her husband in the years when he was at the peak of his fame. The two do not see each other often because he travels a lot, even lives for a while in different countries and in 2005 they separated. In 2014, they officially divorced. Kashpirovski has no children since his second marriage.
He now lives in Brighton Beach, a neighborhood in New York City, also known as “Little Russia.” He rarely visits Kiev and Moscow, where he owns property. The hypnotist no longer gathers thousands of people in stadiums, but enjoys a serious audience. Admission to his sessions is paid – $ 35.
Unhappiness in the family
The daughter Elena Anatolievna got married early and gave birth to a daughter Inga. She left for Canada with her husband, but the two divorced and she settled in the United States. There she gave birth to a son – Sean. It is not known if she remarried. Elena has been involved in sports since she was a child. She became a three-time US karate-do champion. Like his father, he chooses to become a doctor.
Kashpirovski always speaks with pride about his grandchildren, especially Inga, who, like her mother, is passionate about karate-do and is a two-time US champion in the sport in her age group. The psychic’s relationship with Sean is not so close. The boy has difficulty speaking Russian.
There is almost no information about his son Sergei on the Internet. All that is known is that he lives in the United States and is a boxer. The only joint photo with his father was published on the official website of the psychotherapist.
On March 8, 2008, the family was struck by a tragedy. Elena, 49, fell through the window and died. None of the relatives understands whether this is an accident or a suicide. Kashpirovski took her home and buried her with his parents.
Recently, the psychotherapist’s ex-wife Irzhina expressed her suspicions why the tragedy happened. According to her, Elena continued to love her ex-husband Vanya and could not accept the fact that he had a new wife and two more children – boys.
According to conspiracy theory, a curse fell on Kashpirovsky, which had long hung over him like a sword of Damocles.
Among the main suspects are the most famous psychics, including Vanga, who moved to the afterlife a long time ago. The two met her before 1989, when Interior Ministry chiefs and the mayor of Petrich led the hypnotist to the prophetess.
And she starts it from the door: “Who told you to lie to people, a liar, eh?”
“Monkey. He would heal the whole world with a wave of his hand, “Vanga continued. “God, what a perverted swindler. Dirty! Spiritual dwarf. March, march, march from here, oh, little one. Lilliput false Kashpirovski, for his part, accuses the prophetess of being a charlatan. Their war lasted until her death.
An illegitimate son
In 2020, 27-year-old Ukrainian Alexei Fushtei announced that he had filed a lawsuit in the Borispol court in the Kiev region to be recognized as the son of Anatoly Kashpirovsky by his former assistant Svetlana Fushtey.
The case was supposed to take place in February 2020, but was postponed because the psychic was in America and refused to provide material for DNA examination.
Svetlana claims that Kashpirovski is her son’s father, but promised not to tell anyone about their relationship. She decided to take this step only after she found out about his daughter’s death.
She thought he would be glad to know he had another son. Alexei admits that he does not expect anything special from his probable father, nor does he want his money. Its sole purpose is to know the truth about its origin. He also wants to answer why, in addition to being physically similar to him, he also has the gift of healing.
