Already the first week in “Farmen kjendis” we could see that there was a conflict between host Dorthe Skappel (59) and comedian Shabana Rehman (45).
The conflict arises when Skappel is a large farmer. She wants to get Rehman out, and asks if Kjersti Grini (50) can choose her as second champion, if she is chosen as first champion.
– I called both Shabana and Kjersti bastards, and I meant it there and then. I wanted Shabana out in week one, Skappel tells Good evening Norway.
– I did not understand her. She misunderstood me, and I misunderstood her. We crashed seriously, she continues.
This is not well received, but later in the episode you see that Skappel and Rehman sorted it out. But in week two, the conflict escalated further, and it goes so far that Skappel wants to withdraw.
Argument about weekly assignments
Rehman was commissioned to sew jeans, and began sewing by hand when the sewing machine did not work. Skappel says that she would help by getting the machine up and running.
– I got to start the sewing machine, and ran out in excitement to tell Shabana. Then she reacted by thinking that I was trying to take over the project, and drive over her, Skappel says.
– It may be that she was right because I get very eager, but there and then I felt extremely badly treated, because I just wanted to help.
The two agreed that Skappel should stay away from the project, but it escalated further when Skappel, at the request of the big farmer, took Ingrid Simensen with him to take another look at the sewing machine.
Felt overwhelmed
Shabana Rehman (45) says that she felt that Skappel did not trust that she could manage the weekly assignment she was set to do.
– In week two, Dorthe repeated the pattern of overtaking me. I had another sewing assignment that week, and even though Dorthe was on a completely different weekly assignment, she continued to show up with me and follow me. I do not think she thought I could sew, she continues.
Rehmam says that she has sewn several of her stage costumes herself, and that her grandfather was a tailor.
– Dorthe did not know that. So when I told her quite clearly that now she has to back out and give me peace of mind, I think she took it quite hard. I was not aware that this would lead to her actually leaving the Farm, she says.
After another quarrel, Skappel felt that she could not take it anymore.
– Then that was enough. I could not bear to be on the farm with people who did not understand me, and I just felt resistance, says the host.
– Then it must be her or me
In a clip, which is not shown on TV, Skappel says that she finds it difficult to put into words how she feels.
– I feel that I do not quite find out where I belong. It’s not about being banned, and it’s not about people not being fair. It’s just a matter of not finding your place, she says.
Skappel says that she was unsure if there was really a need for her in the group, and if anyone would miss her at all if she left the farm.
– If my feelings, which have been so frayed and are so frayed, continue to be so, then I simply do not think I can be here. Then it must be her or me, says Skappel.
