Georgette Mosbacher on “LGBT-free zones”: Sometimes symbols say more than deeds or words
The ambassador stressed that United States they stand firm for the equality of all peoples and respects the fact that Poland is a Catholic country. However, he adds that recent rhetoric towards sexual minorities alienates our country. – You must know that in terms of LGBT you are on the wrong side of history (…) This also translates into specific business decisions – the ambassador continued.
Georgette Mosbacher added that she was receiving voices from entrepreneurs who do not want to invest in a country where their employees may not be respected. This mainly applies to the film and technology industries. The ambassador added that “creating LGBT-free zones” does not help build Poland’s reputation.
The journalist drew her attention to the fact that there are no such zones – there are resolutions of municipalities on “LGBT-free zones” or Local Family Charter, which do not change anything in Polish law, but are symbolic. – Sometimes symbols say more than deeds or words. I know that this is not entirely fair, but through such “symbols” Poland has acquired the image of a state that does not respect people of different sexual orientation – added the ambassador.
