Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan, after the Presidential Cabinet meeting dealt with the increasing cases of coronavirus in Turkey, “the first two weeks of Ramadan, passing the partial closure application tightening measures,” he said.

Details of the bans were included in the circular on ‘Partial Closure’ sent by the Ministry of Interior to the governorships of 81 cities.

Accordingly, a curfew will be imposed between 19:00 and 05:00 on weekdays.

The curfew for the weekend will start at 19:00 on Friday and end at 05:00 on Monday.

During times when curfews are imposed, intercity travel will not be allowed, except in compulsory cases, by means of public transportation.

Officials of public transportation vehicles documenting their job-related connection and those who present their travel between cities by plane, bus, train, ship with their ticket, reservation code will be exempt from the curfew.

Apart from that, in some cases related to health, death, exam, military service, it is possible to travel by private vehicle by applying for compulsory situations.

There will be checkpoints at city entrances and exits
Checkpoints will be established at all entrances and exits of cities during the period and days in which curfew is imposed.

It will be checked whether those traveling by private vehicles are within the scope of exemption; Intercity travels of people who do not have a valid excuse or exemption will not be allowed.

On the other hand, the seating capacity in urban public transportation will be limited to 50 percent.

Food and beverage places in all accommodation facilities, including touristic facilities, will be able to serve only to guests with accommodation and provided that a maximum of two people are served at the same table.

Mass iftar organizations will not be held in the accommodation facilities.

In which compulsory situations will the exemption from travel ban be granted?
According to the circular of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, those whose applications are accepted in certain compulsory situations will be exempted from the travel ban.

According to the circular, the situations that can be considered as compulsory are as follows:

- Those who want to be discharged from the hospital where they are treated and return to their original residence, who are referred with a doctor’s report and / or have a doctor’s appointment / control
- To attend the funeral of himself or his spouse, deceased first-degree relative or sibling or to accompany the funeral transfer (maximum 8 persons)
- Those who have come to the city they are in in the last 5 days but do not have a place to stay but want to return to their place of residence (those who have arrived within 5 days, the travel ticket, the vehicle plate they came from, other documents showing their travel, and information)
- Those who will take the exams announced by ÖSYM and other central exams and their companions
- Those who want to return to their settlements by completing their military service
- Private or public invitations to the daily contract
- Released from penal institutions

People who indicate that they have such situations will be able to travel by public transportation or private vehicles, provided that they obtain permission from the Travel Permit Boards, through the e-application and Alo 199 systems of the Ministry of Interior, or through direct application to the governorships and district governorships.
