WhatsApp is preparing a batch of new tools for its chat app. Among them is the possibility for the user to choose to have their conversations and files disappear as soon as they are posted and viewed, so that they do not need to have everything recorded either in their cell phone memory or in their own personal memory.

Another feature will be the ability to access the app’s account on up to four different devices, including the iPad.

At least that’s what the WABetaInfo website guarantees, specializing only in news about WhatsApp and famous for bringing forward several changes promoted by the Facebook chat application before they were officially announced. And more: the portal guarantees that the information was provided by Mark Zuckerberg, the owner of Facebook, and by Will Cathcart, president of WhatsApp.

According to WABetaInfo, which posted the images of the conversation held by WhatsApp, it was the two executives who sought the portal to break the news.

‘Swipe Mode’ and ‘See It Once’

According to information written by Zuckerberg in the conversation, WhatsApp is already developing two new options to be added to the application’s settings: one is an extension of the “disappearing mode”, which has been available on a limited basis since the last year, and the other he calls “view once”.

The first allows you to choose that conversations are temporary, that is, disappear from your cell phone after a while. The temp messages option it was already available in the app in November: by activating it, the user makes the messages sent disappear after seven days of being sent.

In the current version, however, it can only be enabled individually for each conversation or each group. According to Zuckeberg, this will be expanded so that all conversations in the app can be made transient at once, if the user wants to.

The option “see once” will serve to mark files and uploaded contents. Once the option is activated, the content will be deleted from the cell phone after the recipient sees it.

“We’ve already released the functionality that lets you make messages disappear in any conversation. We’re about to launch ‘disappear mode’, which turns messages disappearing in all your conversations, so your WhatsApp experience basically becomes ephemeral “, Zuckerberg wrote to WABetaInfo. “All of this makes WhatsApp messages even more private and secure,” he added.

Up to four devices

Zuckerberg also said the app is working to allow access to the WhatsApp account on up to four different devices, including a version of the app that will be developed specifically for the iPad.

“It’s been a huge technical challenge to get all your messages and content to sync correctly between devices, even when the phone’s battery runs out, but we’ve solved that and we’re looking forward to launching it soon!” wrote Facebook founder .

According to the executives, the features should be available in beta version “within a month or two”.
