Whatsapp sucks more and more data from – articles

Whatsapp users were recently asked to accept new privacy policy. Shocking: It is impossible to decline, cell phone owners can only agree to the provisions. In the new small print, WhatsApp publisher Facebook admits that all data is extracted from the app and resold. The so-called metadata are extremely problematic: They contain who spoke to whom, when and where.

And what’s more: Whatsapp for Facebook has been copying address book data from smartphones without asking for a few years. In addition, the app continuously saves the location of the cell phone – even if the user forbids it. In the small print it says: “Even if you do not use our location-related functions, we use IP addresses and other information such as telephone codes to determine your approximate location.”

Tip: Stay away from Whatsapp. Good and safe messaging apps are Signal or Threema.
