WhatsApp will stop working on some phones due to incompatibility of their operating systems. These are cell phones for which there are no updates and therefore no longer support the memory requirements of the popular Facebook messaging application.
In the case of phones that run on Android, to be able to use WhatsApp they need to have an operating system version higher than 4.0.3. In iPhone cell phones, for the messaging app to work, it is required to have operating systems starting from iOS 9.

How to know what version of operating system the cell phone has
In the case of Android, this information is accessed by entering “Settings”, from where you must then access the “System” section. In the search bar that appears there at the top of the screen, type “Android version” and the information about the version of the operating system will appear.
Those who have iPhone should also enter “Settings” and then and go to “General”. In that instance they have to enter “Information” and they will see what version of iOS their phone has.
