WhatsApp Reportedly Testing New Feature in Audio Message Playback

TEMPO.CO, JakartaWhatsApp is reportedly working on a feature that will speed up voicemail while it’s being played back. This feature will work in a similar way to voice recordings in general, which can be sped up to 1.5x or 2x when played back.

Voice messages are basically voice recordings that are forwarded or other audio that is not recorded by the user when sent. While this feature looks to be being tested on iOS devices, it’s speculated that Android devices might get it soon too.

WhatsApp new feature tracking platform, WABetaInfo, have seen that Meta’s messaging service is working on a feature that will allow users to increase playback speed for all audio messages, not just voice recordings. WABetaInfo only sees it on the iOS version of the app.

WABetaInfo does not provide any information about when this feature will be rolled out to users as it is still in beta testing. Just to mention that users will be able to increase the playback speed of any audio by up to 2x, similar to the playback speed feature available for voice notes.

Earlier this week, WhatsApp introduced two new features to add secure accounts on its platform. This new security method includes express calling and message level reporting.

Express calling allows users to register their accounts via automated dialing in addition to text messages, which is currently only available to users Android. Meanwhile, with message-level reporting, users can report accounts by flagging certain messages, simply by long-pressing on certain messages to report or block users.
