What are temporary messages and how to activate them?

WhatsApp now brings the option to activate temporary messages, this, to allow the conversation to disappear in 24 hours, 7 or 90 days after being sent. Bearing in mind that the most recent selection will only affect new messagesmeaning that the setting does not apply to messages that were previously received or sent within the chat.

Within any chat window, users can turn these temporary messages on or off, while if it’s in a group, any of the participants can activate or deactivate this action. Likewise, their administrators can configure this option so that they are the only ones allowed to change these options.

This way you can activate the temporary messages:

  • Login to WhatsApp

  • Enter the chat window in which you want to put this option to limit the time of the messages.

  • Touch the top of the group name or contact

  • Go to the “temporary messages” option

  • There, you can choose the period of deletion of the same that will be 24 hours, 7 or 90 days.

With this new update, what it allows is that the messages that were sent or received by the sender disappear once the term you chose is established. In addition, you can also return to the normal version of them, even if you have selected the tool, by following these steps:

  • Click on the top where the contact name appears

  • Select the “Temporary Messages” option

  • Click on continue

  • Select the 2Deactivated option.
