WhatsApp: Here’s why you shouldn’t send photos through the app

@: The Independent

WhatsApp is very convenient for sending photos to friends, family and contacts, both directly, through groups or broadcast lists. However, the quality of these photos received is often not at the top. Here is the reason.

Nowadays, for sending certain media such as videos, photos, we set our sights on the WhatsApp global application. But it is not recommended. And for good reason, the application reduces the quality of these media sent.

Why does the quality of photos sent via WhatsApp deteriorate?

Indeed, WhatsApp uses a format that differs from that of the camera application. As a result, when sending, the application compresses the resolutions of the images. Zooming in then on a photo sent by WhatsApp, you will notice that there is a lack of sharpness, followed by many other details. When many users then share the same photo, the image loses its quality and moves further and further away from the original.

To resolve this situation, it is recommended not to send them via the application. If you then want to send a photo in as good a quality as possible in the near future, you should opt for sending by e-mail, AirDrop or a data service. In addition, it should be noted that WhatsApp does not only allow you to share photos and videos with other users, but it also facilitates the sharing of other file formats.
