WhatsApp and Peruvian associations come together to support SMEs

WhatsApp. Starting on November 5, a training program will be issued that will be available to all interested entrepreneurs and they will be able to register as of today.

In order to help economic recovery and promote the digitization of Peruvian micro, small and medium-sized companies, WhatsApp, various associations announce an alliance to train more than two thousand businesses and entrepreneurs in the use of WhatsApp Business, the version of the messaging application specially designed for small businesses.

The Association of Entrepreneurs of Peru (ASEP), the Association of Latin American Entrepreneurs (ASELA) and the Secretary of Government and Digital Transformation of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers participated in the formation of the alliance.

“In this collaboration, we seek that businesses approach free technological tools such as WhatsApp Business and thus contribute to the economic recovery with tools that are available to their mobile devices,” says Paloma Szerman, manager of Public Policies for WhatsApp in Latin America.

Training for Peruvian entrepreneurs

Through the online training program “WhatsApp Friday”, During which the tools and good practices for the use of the application will be studied in depth, ASEP, ASELA and WhatsApp will work to improve the competitiveness and commercial communication of micro, small and medium businesses.

The trainings are part of a program that includes different modules of basic and advanced content, and will be available on the microsite “WhatsApp Friday”.

Starting November 5, every Friday, ASEP training specialists will deliver five online training sessions. This training program will be available to all interested entrepreneurs and they will be able to register as of today.

“We are happy to make this important alliance to promote companies in the country in a scenario where digitization is essential for economic reactivation. ‘WhatsApp Friday’ is becoming a benchmark initiative for the promotion of companies in Peru and Latin America. We invite entrepreneurs, businessmen, as well as their communication teams, and freelancers, to dedicate one hour a week to the growth of their company through this free program ”, says Mariella Soto, vice president of ASEP.

Meanwhile, ASELA, an ally of Facebook and its entire family of applications, has participated in trainings on Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp to train small businesses throughout Latin America, especially those affected by the pandemic.

WhatsApp Business

Currently, 50 million small and medium-sized companies in the world use WhatsApp Business to improve communication with their customers and professionalize their brand, while, globally, more than 175 million people send messages to a WhatsApp Business account every day.

In Peru, according to a recent Accenture study commissioned by Facebook, 77% of the country’s consumers already use the common version of WhatsApp as a shopping tool to get in touch with businesses, and today it is possible to access more than 30 categories of products and services through the application.
