Jose Mourinho emphasized that all coaches want their teams to play well, but winning is much more important when AS Roma against Empoli.
Roma host Empoli at the Olimpico in the Italian League continued, Sunday (3/10/2021) night WIB. The Giallorrosi are demanded to be able to get up after falling 2-3 against Lazio last weekend.
Mourinho insists that Roma must be able to get points from Empoli. A good game is meaningless if you end up losing.
“Results are always the most important thing. If you play attacking football and lose 4-5, then it’s better to get the score 0-0 and get a point,” Mourinho was quoted as saying by Football Italia.
“It is impossible to be top of the table unless you are a balanced and complete team. All coaches want to play good football, but I am focused on results. Both can be done, but the result is more important.”
Mourinho also reminded that the basis of the game of football is to defend well. He gave an example of how Roma have lost their last two away games in Serie A.
“The basic thing in football is defending well. We want a team that creates chances, but also defends well. We lost our last two away games despite scoring two goals, and that’s a bad sign. Conceding six goals in two games is too much.” Mourinho revealed.
“It’s important to be wary of Empoli, because we know their quality and they are the team that has made the most crosses during the first six Serie A matches,” he stressed.
Empoli are a promoted team that have beaten Juventus this season. They now sit in ninth position with nine points, losing three points to Roma.
