With the launch of the series iPhone 14Apple has launched its new iOS 16 and iPadOS 16 that offer ample possibilities for personalization and data sharing.
A first update iOS 16.1 was released on October 24 and activated some features unveiled during the official presentation last June, such as Live Activities or iCloud shared photo library.
The changes to the iPhone and iPad interface should continue with the update iOS 16.2 whose journalist Mark Gurman, of Bloomberg, indicates in his PowerOn newsletter that it will be offered around mid-December 2022in the company of iPadOS 16.2.
iOS 16.2 and iPadOS 16.2: Activation of the promised functions
The beta versions are already in the hands of the developers and beta testers to finalize the details. Among the few features that should be added on this occasion, we will find the view of Live Activities sports results in real time on the lock screen or in the dynamic island of the iPhone 14 Pro.
We should find a widget that summarizes the sleep tracking data on the lock screen, with information such as time and sleep quality displayed, with different types of views.
iOS 16.2 and iPadOS 16.2 will add the app Free form presented in June and which can be used as a brainstorming board for meetings or between friends, everyone can add their ideas in different forms (text, image, video, sound, drawing …).
The application is also found on macOS Ventura 13.1 which will be released in mid-December for Mac computers, always in the spirit of distributing applications and data on all Apple platforms.
iOS 16.3 and iPadOS 16.3 in early 2023
iPadOS 16.2 will benefit from the support for an external screen for iPad touchscreen tablets to fully enjoy multitasking and simultaneous viewing of multiple applications with the function Stage manager.
Mark Gurman himself notes that Apple is already preparing the sequel with versions iOS 16.3, iPadOS 16.3 et macOS Ventura 13.3 which will arrive between February and March 2023.
Their distribution would be tied to the launch of the upcoming 14 and 16-inch MacBook Pros that use the Apple M2 Pro and Apple M2 Ultra chips. Traditionally, these versions correspond to purposeful, stable and fully distributed platforms.
