What symptoms do I have when?

Covid-19 and flu have similar symptoms

The number of people suffering from coronavirus is increasing every day – worldwide. In more and more countries, it is only noticeable that the disease has long since drawn large circles when people become seriously ill or die. This is partly because the corona virus has a long incubation period and partly because it has symptoms similar to classic flu. But what are the differences? And can I see for myself whether I only have the flu or more? We have summarized the most important features in the video.

Signs of flu vs. Coronavirus: what symptoms do I have and when?

Fever, respiratory problems, limpness, cough – the symptoms that we know from a cold or flu are the same as with the currently spreading corona virus. “That’s the tricky thing,” explains general practitioner Dr. Christoph Specht. “It’s exactly the same signs as a cold or the flu.”

If you are now afraid that you will not recognize an alleged coronavirus disease because you think it is flu, you can rest easy: It is flu time now. We are still much more likely to get a cold or flu, Dr. Woodpecker.

Even those who are afraid of the rising death toll should remain calm. The corona virus is especially dangerous for people who already have previous illnesses.

How can I protect myself against the corona virus?

Since Corona is a virus, a protective mask doesn’t really help, explains Dr. Woodpecker. “These viruses are so small that they laugh at such paper masks. They can even get through the paper.” As long as you don’t put your hands in the face, it may be better than nothing, but it is not proper protection, the doctor says.

The best way to protect ourselves against the corona virus is to distance ourselves from every sick person or animal, explains René Gottschalk, head of the Frankfurt Health Office. “That is quite enough. The virus cannot fly, it is transmitted as a droplet, so we are within a meter of one another in a safe area.”

And especially Wash your hands thoroughly – with soap and water!
