What does Mexico need to pass the group
The chances of passing the round, as also mentioned by Lozano himself, are minimal: after the draw with the Poland from Zielinsky on the first day, the Mexicans are in last place in group C with only one point conquered. In front are Saudi Arabia and Argentina with 3 points and Poland first with 4 points.
Mexico will have to beat theSaudi Arabia in the last group game and hope for one defeat of Argentina against Poland to overcome Albiceleste and pass the group as second in the standings.
Instead, in case of arrival at equal points with one between Poland and Argentina, whoever has it will pass best goal difference. Mexico must therefore win against Saudi Arabia by several goals.
Mexicans are currently -2 as goal difference, while Argentina is +1 and Poland +2. In case of a tie between Argentina and Poland, Mexico should win with 4 goal difference to have a better goal difference than Argentina. Quite a difficult challenge for a team that remained in the first two days dry of goals.
The other option is to hope for one Argentina striker in order to drastically lower Poland’s goal difference. Hopes are there, but it all depends on Mexico, a team that showed too little in these first two matches.
