KOMPAS.com- Indonesian amateur astronomer, Marufin Sudibyo revealed that there is phenomenon the sky is interesting namely the sash galaksi bima sakti which is a pity to pass while accompanying you to eat sahur.
Marufin explained, the Milky Way galaxy sash is sky view charm that couldn’t be ignored.
“At suhoor, when the sky is clear and you are not in a big city, the Milky Way sash will be clearly visible,” said Marufin, Tuesday (20/4/2021).
What is that the sash of the Milky Way galaxy?
Marufin, who is also the Advisor and Assistant to the Gombong Sphere Science Study Forum (FKIK) and the Kebumen Research Institute for Falak Science (MKIF), Central Java, again explained in more detail what was meant by the sling of the Milky Way galaxy.

The sash of the Milky Way galaxy is part of the Milky Way galaxy that can be seen from Earth.
The Milky Way is one of the largest galaxies in the universe and is shaped like a disk, and is a collection of billions of stars in this universe.
These stars, most of which make up the Milky Way galaxy, are visible from the edges of the galaxy. This galaxy contains about 100 to 400 billion stars.
The sun and the entire solar system are located on the edge of the Milky Way, making it possible to see most of the structure of this galaxy.
“It is called the (phenomenon) the Milky Way sash because it is shaped like a fine shawl that stretches from north to south with certain motifs on its parts,” he explained.

When is the right time to observe the Milky Way Galaxy Sling?
Marufin said the Milky Way galaxy sash can be seen from midnight to early morning from April to September, as long as the weather is clear.
However, it can only be seen in rural areas or small towns that have not been polluted by light (Bortle scale maximum 3).
“The Milky Way sash can only be seen in dark areas which have a maximum Bortle scale of 3,” explained Marufin.
At the maximum Bortle scale of 3, the appearance of this sling is an indicator of whether the local environment has been polluted by light or not.

The appearance of the Milky Way’s sash also brings a feeling of admiration especially since it can only be seen at night where the situation is calmer and cooler. So it is esoteric.
At dawn, said Marufin, the sash of the Milky Way galaxy will be very clear, stretching from north to south.
“It was as if (the Milky Way galaxy sash) was crossing the sky,” he said.
No tools are needed to see it. If you want to be immortalized or photographed, you can use a cellphone camera or a more complex camera such as a DSLR.
The requirements for photographing this sling of the Milky Way galaxy are at a shutter speed of more than 5 seconds and at an ISO of more than 2000.
