What is really happening with the Russian economy

According to the latest data from Rosstat, almost 21 million Russians live below the poverty line.

Russia is reporting negative economic growth, factories are shutting down across the country, but officials say unemployment rates are falling.

Journalists of the FreeDom project analyzed what awaits the Russians due to the impact of sanctions.

Sophia Suvorova, an unemployed resident of Nizhny Novgorod, says that many foreign companies have left the Russian Federation, and it is not easy to find a job. But she is not against what is happening, because “there is something more” than, for example, the desire to go to the cinema.

Keep “historically low” unemployment and employers, but not by giving work. But in a different way. A person is invited for an internship, they promise to pay, but after two weeks they say goodbye to him without paying. And it works like a pipeline.

In addition, the government is trumpeting that the default promised by many experts in the Russian Federation will not happen. And he also constantly repeats about the strengthening of the ruble, but you can’t buy the dollar at the announced rate anywhere in Russia.

“In Russia, everything is going according to plan. True, according to what, one cannot understand. And very soon the Russians will understand that they do not get up from their knees, but lie down. After all, it is very difficult to get up in this state of the economy,” the journalists summed up.

Earlier, Ilya Neskhodovsky, director of the Institute for Socio-Economic Transformation, said that there are real indicators published by Rosstat for the first quarter of 2022. This indicator of the number of poor people in the Russian Federation is increased from 12.7 million to 20.9 million, i.e. by 69%. The number of unemployed is also increasing. Since it all started in March, it has not yet been included in the statistics for the first quarter. We will see these statistics in the second quarter.
