In March, Spotify acquired Betty Labs, the publisher of Locker Room, a live audio chat app dedicated to sports. With this acquisition, the music streaming platform has clearly announced its intention to compete with Clubhouse by entering the live audio chat market.
After a few months, the Locker Room will become a Spotify Greenroom. This is an audio chat application provided by a music service as an extension of an existing application.
With Spotify Greenroom, a free download for Android and iPhone in over 135 countries, users can use their Spotify login ID directly to create and join an existing audio chat room.
With 158 million paying subscribers and over 356 million monthly active users, Spotify can be a player to consider. The Clubhouse is not to be taken lightly anyway. The 10 million monthly users in May 2021 suddenly seem very low, according to CEO Paul Davidson.
Spotify Greenroom has a built-in recording feature that allows you to request a chat or even chat directly in the audio chat room.
In addition to sports themes specific to the locker rooms, Spotify Greenroom offers programming on musical, cultural and entertainment themes.
