What Iran looked like before and after the Islamic Revolution – Curious

I early revolution also called the Islamic Revolution or the 1979 Revolution, is an event in Iranian history that led to the overthrow of Shah Mohammad Reza Pahlavi and the abolition of the monarchy in Iran.

A key role in it was played by Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini, who, with the help of various leftist and Islamic organizations and students of Islamic theology, established a governmentorganized according to traditional Islamic law and calls this government “Ali’s representative”.

Religion becomes the basis of all political and economic life.

The revolution was supported and carried out with the direct help of the USSRwhich began to play the role of Iran’s main partner in the following years, thus the Soviet state regained the lost ground in Iran, which it lost after the CIA coup in Tehran in the 1950s, giving power to Shah Muhammad Reza Pahlavi and removing pro-Soviet Iranian politician Dr. Mohammad Mossadq.

The stated reasons for the outbreak of the revolution and its populist, nationalist and later Shia-Islam character include the conservative backlash against Western influences, the liberal backlash against social injustice, rising expectations created by the oil basin revenues in 1973 and an over-ambitious economic program, anger at the sharp contraction of the economy in 1977-78, and other failings of the old regime.

The revolution in Iran is widely accepted by the masses who believe that Iran has finally been freed from the shackles of the shah’s regime and the colonial policies of the US and Western Europewith thousands swearing that with the support of Allah and the fraternal help of the USSR, Iran will begin to lead an independent policy.

See what Iran looked like before the revolution:

Before the Islamic Revolution, women in Iran were not required to wear the hijab.

Women in Iran wore patterned clothes and short skirts before the revolution.

Traditionally, women in Iran, they had to be locked up in their homes so that they could take care of the household and raise the children.

During the era of Muhammad Reza Pahlavi, however, a drastic change took place as far as women were concerned: they received the right to vote and education, equal wages with men, public positions and could dress as they pleased.

After the Iranian Revolution in 1979, however, things changed for them.

Iran’s constitution, adopted after the revolution, proclaimed equality between men and women. However, Sharia law still favors men. However, Article 21 of Iran’s constitution, as well as several laws passed by parliament, give women some advantages. They are allowed to drive, hold public office and attend university. However, not wearing a hijab in public can be punished by law.

The rule in Iran of Ruhollah Khomeini, the ideological leader of the Islamic Revolution, led to many paradoxes for women. They gained great influence in certain areas, but still faced many political obstacles. For example, they were allowed to serve in the army, but were restricted in many areas of study.
