What foods will help residents of Tambov protect the body from coronavirus

Experts told us which products will help to resist coronavirus infection. Head of the Consultative and Diagnostic Center “Healthy and Sports Nutrition” Yekaterina Burlyaeva noted the importance of vitamins such as A, C, D, E, B2, B6 and B12, as well as folic acid, zinc, selenium and iron. They write about it RIA Novosti.

The specialist also recalled the importance of vitamin D deficiency. Its lack can lead to the risk of developing respiratory infectious diseases. It also supports the production of specific antimicrobial proteins in the respiratory epithelium – this reduces the likelihood of contracting the virus and progression of symptoms of infection. High amounts of vitamin D are found in cod liver, egg yolk, fish, and butter. Daily consumption of 10-15 grams of cod liver per day can cover the daily need for vitamins A and D.

Vitamin E is also considered effective in protecting the human body from infections. It is found in nuts and sunflower oil. The daily consumption of two tablespoons also fully satisfies the daily human need for this vitamin.

Ekaterina Burlyaeva also recalled the importance of vitamin C in immunomodulation. She advised to include in the diet rosehips, black currants, sea buckthorn, cabbage, citrus fruits and bell peppers.

In addition, it is beneficial to eat beef and chicken liver, as well as cheese and nuts – they contain zinc, which, together with selenium, are important components for the immune response. Selenium is found in liver and cottage cheese.

However, with the help of food alone, it is extremely difficult to saturate the body with minerals and vitamins, so the nutritionist recommended that you think about using vitamin complexes. She also urged to monitor the balance of proteins, fats and carbohydrates.

“Optimal nutrition is a key factor in preventing the development and improvement of the course of nutrition-related diseases that significantly worsen the prognosis of a person with novel coronavirus infection”, – summed up Ekaterina Burlyaeva, head of the Consultative and Diagnostic Center “Healthy and Sports Nutrition”, nutritionist of the highest qualification category of the Federal Research Center of Nutrition and Biotechnology.
