The risk of chronic diseases increases with age. Nine foods such as sugar, meat or coffee promote inflammation in diabetes, rheumatism and osteoarthritis.

For more and more people, chronic inflammation is the cause of Hashimoto-like ailments and diseases such as severe inflammation of the thyroid gland, diabetes, rheumatism, osteoarthritis or acne. The term chronic means “slowly developing”, “insidious”, “long-lasting”. Diseases that do not heal completely and therefore require continued treatment become chronic. In addition to allergies, cardiovascular diseases, cancer and dementia, diseases whose development can be promoted by an incorrect diet also include chronic diseases such as irritable bowel syndrome, diabetes, rheumatism and acne.

Chronic inflammation – 1. Sugar promotes diabetes and rheumatism

Industrially produced household sugar contains glucose and fructose. Eating more than 25 grams per day can increase the risk of rheumatism, type 2 diabetes and last but not least obesity World Health Organization (WHO). A high consumption of sugar can promote inflammatory processes in the body.

The body needs a lot of energy and stomach acid to digest alcohol. Additionally, alcohol promotes inflammation in the liver and pancreas.

Coffee in itself is not harmful: here too it is the quantity that makes the difference in what is activated in the body. If you drink more than two cups a day, inflammatory markers in the blood can be triggered. Therefore, coffee is suspected to cause cardiovascular disease.

Trans fats are considered “man-made” fats and are labeled “hydrogenated” and “partially hydrogenated” on the packaging. These “hydrogenated fats” are commonly found in convenience foods, fried foods, and candy. When these fats are eaten, the level of cholesterol can rise sharply, it accumulates in the vessels, which can increase the risk of high blood pressure, heart attack and stroke. The development of inflammatory processes in connection with cancer can also be promoted by unhealthy fats.

Chronic inflammation – 6. White flour products contribute to intestinal inflammation, diabetes and acne

Eating white flour has been shown to raise blood sugar because it contains fewer minerals and fiber. The lack of dietary fiber in the intestine can promote constipation, which can also cause possible inflammatory processes. In addition, a fluctuating blood sugar level increases the risk of “cravings”, so that long-term weight gain with fat accumulation can be the result. This in turn promotes possible insulin resistance and thus the development of type 2 diabetes. If you eat more white flour, pro-inflammatory intestinal bacteria can multiply. Ultimately, this can result in inflammatory bowel disease or even colon cancer.

Chronic inflammation – 7. Dairy products, eggs and red meat increase the risk of osteoarthritis

Eggs, dairy products and red meat contain something called arachidonic acid, which can promote inflammation in the body. This acid belongs to the group of omega-6 fatty acids and is mainly found in foods of animal origin such as meat, butter and offal. To prevent osteoarthritis, you should therefore eat lots of green vegetables and little meat.

As with many things in nutrition, quantity makes the “poison”. Therefore, the foods mentioned should not be eliminated immediately from the menu, but in case of chronic diseases, avoiding them could contribute to less or less symptoms. To prevent or minimize inflammation and chronic disease, focus more on foods and foods that experts say have anti-inflammatory properties.
