What changes in Lyon and in the Rhône on January 1st!

2021 brings new perspectives but also changes in everyday life.

On the side of good news for the portfolio, the minimum wage is increased by 0.99% this Friday (or 15 euros extra). It now stands at 1,554.58 euros. In addition, the housing tax will decrease this year for the 20% of the richest households before a total disappearance of this tax in 2023 for main residences. The reform of the APL also comes into force on January 1; aid will be calculated on the basis of the last twelve months and entitlements will be updated every three months.

On the other hand, some packs of cigarettes will see their price increase as of this Friday. This will also be the case for stamps which will experience an increase of 5% on average. It will now be necessary to pay 1.08 euros for a green stamp (against 0.97 euros previously) and 1.28 euros for a red stamp whereas it cost until now 1.16 euros. Note also the increase in regulated tariffs for the sale of gas from Engie: + 0.2% on average. Homeopathy is no longer reimbursed by social security.

In the transport category, two new subscriptions are appearing on the TCL network: free solidarity and reduced solidarity at the rate of 10 euros. The Rhônexpress price list is changing: the shuttle between the TGV station of Lyon Saint-Exupéry and that of Part-Dieu will be free from this Friday for children under 12 and will cost 10 euros per trip for 12-25 year olds and travelers in possession of an SNCF ticket. The other subscriptions and prices do not change at the start of 2021.

Also note that if you buy a new bike this year, it must have an identity card. This “unique identifier” present on the bicycle will bear the contact details of its owner. Objective of the principle: to fight against thefts, the number of which is estimated at 300,000 each year in France. Used bikes will be affected by this identity card on July 1, 2021. The file will be managed by the Association for the Promotion of Cycle Identification (APIC).
