The use of low doses of aspirin in people without cardiovascular disease was associated with a lower (17%) incidence of cardiovascular complications, such as non-fatal heart attacks, strokes or deaths caused by cardiovascular disease.

The use of low doses of aspirin was also associated with a higher risk of gastrointestinal bleeding (47%) and a higher risk of intracranial bleeding (34%).
