The City of Miami Commission approved this Thursday the program to help pay rent to residents affected by the coronavirus and gave more details about the applications that start this Monday.

In total there are 2 million dollars that will be allocated to an emergency plan in which up to $ 1,500 will be distributed per person or family, and with which they will be able to pay the rent and basic expenses such as electricity or telephone.

“Applications start on May 4 and will be open for 5 days. If we receive 10,000 applications, we will close the list and make a draw, “said Mayor Francis Suárez.

The requirements to be eligible are:

  • Live in the City of Miami.

  • Earn less than $ 3,200 per month.

  • Demonstrate that you lost your job due to the coronavirus.

If all the beneficiaries receive the maximum amount of $ 1,500, it will reach 1,300 people.

After completing the application, if eligible, the Miami city It will include it in the raffle and if your name comes out, they will ask for documents and information to make the payment directly to the owner of the property where you rent.
