There is one thing I cannot understand. Or otherwise, I understand. However, I cannot come to terms with it. Why does the Polish state act so sluggishly when its foundations are violated? His moral backbone, which is the Catholic faith. Obviously, this imperative does not appeal to everyone today. There are many non-believers among us. Everyone has the right to do so. But believers have the right to expect a minimum of respect for the things that are important and precious to them. Just like us believers, we have no right to mock atheists, agnostics, or people of other faiths and beliefs and attributes that are important to them.
More important in this matter is that not only the objects and emblems of the Catholic faith are being violated. Mocked, ridiculed and disgusted are the most important symbols that build the identity of our state and unite the nation into one community. Related to the donation of their own blood by the victims who, in the Warsaw Uprising, laid their lives on the stake to defend the Polish state against the barbarian German invader. When the monuments of our ancestors are desecrated, who in the heroic, as it turned out to be, the battle, paved the way for the next generations of Poles, including us, to freedom and independence. By sacrificing their own lives, they forged a path to a better future. They were then victims of the cruelty and genocide of the state, which set itself the goal of the complete extermination of our nation, and imposed on the healthiest Poles and the strongest Poles the fetters of slaves who served their masters, remaining at their mercy and disfavor.
No values
Today, through acts of vandalism, committed in the name of the alleged defense of sexual freedom, the victims there are now being attacked again by people who are deprived of sensitivity, imagination and social skills. People for whom there is no sanctity have no value other than satisfying their sexual instincts in a world of their own design. Built regardless of cost, including the destruction of whatever stands in the way of their own vision.
The reversal of the world order, turning it on its head, consists in the fact that the perpetrators – in fact criminals – of these heinous acts, the political circles favoring them, are regarded as victims. By implication – “victims of a repressive state.” This is evidenced by the officially reported declaration by some left-wing politicians about their readiness to provide free legal assistance in the event that the police and the prosecutor’s office take action to bring the perpetrators to criminal liability.
The years of the Polish People’s Republic come back to mind, when the most courageous advocates provided such help to the then political opposition or to the workers of Radom and Ursus persecuted by the authorities of the communist regime. The imitation of that action in today’s conditions, as is usually the case in such a conversion, not only has a grotesque aftertaste, but turns into a caricature. However, this is just a side note.
The most outrageous thing is that the police are reluctant to do their job. As if she favored the perpetrators quietly. Or it was waiting for a decisive commission to act from the security and public order office of the Warsaw City Hall. Observing the behavior of Rafał Trzaskowski so far – including his famous: – “I have to say honestly, this is the first time I hear about it”, spoken 48 hours after all of Warsaw and its media talked about nothing else – there is no need to expect the City Hall to give the police a signal to seriously deal with the detection of the perpetrators of the wrongdoing.
I know the current capabilities of the police and I am more than sure that if only someone from the management at the Warsaw Police Headquarters snapped harder, then within a few hours every vandal would be caught.
However, from what I remember, the capital commandant also has his superiors. What they are doing is that tomorrow will be a week and a group of amateur “conspirators” – and they may be girls – laugh at the nose of the police.
Question to the police
I don’t want to offend the policemen. I worked as a journalist with the police for almost 20 years and I got to know them a bit. But I have to ask – would the capital city command have a similar effect chasing any madmen who would place bags or nets with explosives on the monuments?
The rainbow flag is not a bomb of course. It poses no danger. But the rules are the same. It is a prohibited act. If, for whatever reasons, you can’t, don’t want to, don’t let you catch amateurs within a dozen or so hours, how would you like to deal with professionals, if necessary?
I would not like the perpetrators of acts of vandalism to be arrested. I do not demand any severe punishment for them. Even a painful fine. I would like to watch them, for example, cleaning up as part of a court sentence, collecting papers for a week in Krasiński Square. As we know the current judgments, we can’t even count on one. Perhaps they will find a judge from Mokotów, who would be happy to help them “decorate” Warsaw monuments at night with LGTB flags. For the whole matter, it is somewhat of secondary importance.
It is essential that those who have perpetrated it do not live with impunity. With the knowledge that, in fact, they hadn’t done anything wrong. Or, the worst could happen. That they are heroes that have not even been detected.
