The Ministry of National Education maps the school holiday zones according to the school academies. The latest division of the zones follows the territorial reform which redesigned certain French administrative regions. The purpose of the zones is to avoid that within the same region, academies have different school holiday dates.

Zone A: Besançon, Bordeaux, Clermont-Ferrand, Dijon, Grenoble, Limoges, Lyon, Poitiers
Zone B: Aix-Marseille, Amiens, Caen, Lille, Nancy-Metz, Nantes, Nice, Orléans-Tours, Reims, Rennes, Rouen, Strasbourg
Zone C: Paris, Créteil, Versailles, Montpellier, Toulouse
