The test prototype of the Hyundai Ioniq 5 electric car, which would be awaiting scrapping, has found unusual use.

The fate of test prototypes is usually not very nice. Although a few pieces of special models sometimes get into collections or museums, most cars are destroyed during development, others are devoted, for example, to educating students or training firefighters, and the rest is scrapped, as they are not officially allowed on the road.
However, Hyundai engineers have decided to demonstrate on one of the Ioniq 5 electric car prototypes that the electric car can have a variety of uses. Maybe they were trying to offer a new perspective on the common question of what to do with electric cars at the end of their life.

The discarded test electric car was first disassembled into the last bolt and then built a really unusual air purifier from its components. In addition, the carmaker captured the whole process in a video that was given the simple name Rebirth.
Of course, the car is not a Lego, so it was necessary to modify some parts of the car using various tools, which is especially true for the body panels, which now form the cover of the cleaner. At its top is a 20 “alloy wheel, under which is hidden the ventilation system of the electric car, capable of effectively filtering the air in the room.

In addition, the cover of the air purifier is decorated with re-used rear LED-pixel lamps, which complement the internal screens of the infotainment system and the carmaker’s logo. In addition, the video beautifully shows how the cleaner was created and how it works with the help of digital effects.
