A young American woman of Turkish origin was killed at noon in the occupied West Bank during a demonstration against the settlement.
26-year-old activist Eisenur Ezgi Eggi was killed by a bullet to the head, it is not clear whether she was shot by a settler or a soldier.
The girl, who was participating in a demonstration in support of the Palestinians near one of the “advanced” Jewish settler settlements next to Beite settlement in the Nablus region, had only arrived in the West Bank last Tuesday, according to Al Jazeera. In the same incident, a young Palestinian was slightly injured
Eigi was a member of the International Solidarity Movement, an organization that tries to stop settler attacks on Palestinian farmers and ranchers in the occupied territories.
Two more members of the same organization were killed by the Israelis in Gaza, Rachel Corey in 2003 and Tom Hardal in 2004. Both have become symbols of international support for the Palestinian people. Their murder of a young American woman is expected to trigger a new wave of criticism against Israel, both in the United States and in Turkey.
