Bay Area Basketball Tournament to Ignite Competition in Shenzhen
Shenzhen is set to host the “Welcome the National Games·National Fitness” 2025 Bay Area Basketball invitational Tournament this Saturday, promising a vibrant display of athleticism and team spirit. The event aims to stimulate the consumption economy within the Bay Area through culture, tourism, catering, and accommodation, and explore a new integrated development model for culture, sports, tourism, and business.
Six teams comprised of young professionals from Shenzhen and hong Kong will compete for top honors. Participating teams include the China Merchants Bank Shenzhen Branch Rocket Team (“CMB Rockets Team”),the China Construction Bank Shenzhen Branch Team (“CCB Shenzhen branch Team”),and a joint team from Shenzhen Futian Jinke shuangyuan Technology Enterprise (“Bay Area Jinke team”). The Guangdong High-tech Industry Chamber of Commerce Shenzhen-Hong Kong Youth Team (“High-tech Shenzhen-Hong Kong Youth Team”),the ”Luofu Team” from Boluo county,Huizhou,and the “Shenzhen Bo Tsunami Team” – who finished fourth in the 2025 “Shenzhen Cup” basketball game - will also vie for the championship.
Organizers highlight the event as a chance for these financial and technological professionals to showcase their vitality and passion outside of the office. “Happy work, healthy life,” encapsulates the spirit of the tournament, where participants will demonstrate teamwork and dedication on the basketball court.
The tournament will adhere to the latest “Basketball Rules” approved by the Chinese Basketball Association.The six teams have been drawn into two groups of three, and will compete in a round-robin format to determine rankings from 1st to 8th place. Prize money will be awarded to the top three teams: 5,000 yuan for first place, 3,000 yuan for second place, and 2,000 yuan for third place.
The semi-finals, finals, and award ceremony will all be held on Saturday, October 25th. Fans can catch the action live on the Guangzhou Daily New Flower City APP·Bay Area channel and the “Greater Bay Area Toutiao” public account.
The tournament is guided by the Guangdong social sports and Training Competition Center and the Guangdong Basketball Association, and sponsored by the Guangdong High-tech Industry Chamber of Commerce and Guangzhou Daily Newspaper Group (Guangzhou Daily). Co-organizers include the Shenzhen Financial Technology Association, Huizhou Boluo County Culture, Radio, television, Tourism and Sports Bureau, and Mingde Senior High School Affiliated to the Chinese University of Hong Kong (Shenzhen). The Boluo county Branch of the Agricultural Bank of China provides special support.
