That autumn is slowly approaching? But no matter what, the following days will be tropical again in the Czech Republic. Temperatures broke records at 22 out of 169 long-term stations on Thursday. They measured the most in Doksany, namely 36.3 degrees Celsius. informed the ČHMÚ. Today, he also issued a warning against high temperatures for almost the entire Czech Republic.
Today, from 12:00 to 21:00, the ČHMÚ warning against strong thunderstorms is also in effect, mainly for the eastern half of Bohemia and the western edge of Moravia.
Moist and unstable air over our territory, especially in the eastern half of Bohemia and in the west of Moravia and in the Jeseníky Mountains, bringing more storms across the board than yesterday. At the moment, over 30 mm of rain falls per hour from strong storms. Thunderstorms have quite a bit of energy (forecast CAPE values go up to 3000 J/kg), but there is only light wind aloft, so the thunderstorms are almost motionless. Due to the weak wind shear, they are unorganized, with only a short duration. With their precipitation, they “undercut” the inflow of warm and moist air into the cloud, which would feed them. “Thunderstorms arise randomly in an inconspicuous pressure field, especially in the mountains or in the region of the Bohemian-Moravian Highlands, linked to local anomalies in flow and humidity. So it is not a good idea to rely on mobile applications displaying model data today, let alone a point forecast. It will be better to monitor the currently measured radar data or the sky in the warning area and adapt to it in the event of a developing storm,” said the meteorologists on the X network.
“Heavy rain can cause rapid drainage of water from the landscape, flooding of lower-lying areas and rapid flooding of smaller streams. We recommend monitoring the Flash Flood Indicator app,” they also said.
On Friday, it will be clear to partly cloudy, with clouds increasing in the afternoon and evening in the Czech Republic. There are occasional thunderstorms. Daytime temperatures will climb up to 33 degrees Celsius again.
It will cool down at the weekend, but only a little. On Saturday, daytime temperatures are expected to range between 26 and 30 degrees Celsius, in the south of Moravia still up to 33 degrees Celsius. It will be cloudy to partly cloudy, in the northwest there may be showers or thunderstorms.
And also on Sunday clear to partly clear with temperatures between 27 and 31 degrees Celsius, in southern Moravia up to 33 degrees Celsius. Cloudiness will increase during the day, mainly in the west with showers and thunderstorms.
Cloudiness will increase on Monday, but temperatures will reach above 30 degrees Celsius again, and it should be similar in the following days. It will cool down slightly on Thursday, the highest temperatures should not exceed 28 degrees Celsius. “The influx of very warm air will probably end in the second half of next week with another cold front from the west,” stated the CHMÚ.
